Stories of God at Work in the 2010 Haiti Earthquake

You’ll enjoy dozens of pictures as well as stories telling of God’s faithfulness, including~

*  Losana knew God had told her that her baby would be a preacher.  Now he was buried            under the rubble.  Was he dead or alive?

*  Every hour the cement settled lower and lower.  Now, it was just a matter of minutes              before Louine’s forehead would be crushed.

*  With hundreds of volunteers ready to provide relief in Haiti, there wasn’t enough                     transportation~ until a call came from Hendrick Motorsports.

*  Who but God, could arrange for a little girl with crushed feet to find herself at                            the same time and place with a team of orthopedic doctors?

* They had waited as long as they possible could.  Now, without a doctor, they                              prepared for surgery.

January 12th, 2010, 4:53 p.m, I was on my way home from a day in the office.  The Christmas rush was over and the normal routine of early winter was in full swing. Things had gone well for the Missionary Flights International (MFI) flight that day. N200MF was over the central Bahamas on its way back from Cap-Haitien, and other than some lousy weather over the northern coast of Hispaniola, all had gone well. The schedule for the next couple of months was full. Many work teams from the north were looking forward to escaping the winter chill for the warmer climate of the tropics. Work teams were scheduled for missions in Cap-Haitien, Pignon, and Port-au-Prince.

My phone rang…it was MFI President, Dick Snook. “Harold…there has been an earthquake in Haiti  . . . I can’t get in touch with any of our missions. I will let you know what I hear…”  It was through this communication that I learned about the

Port-au-Prince earthquake. I had no idea what was in store for us over the next few weeks and months.

Less than 24 hours after the earthquake, the first MFI aircraft was on the ground in Port-au-Prince delivering much needed aid. Within 48 hours, MFI’s hangar had become a major distribution center for Haiti relief on the east coast of Florida. And within 72 hours, MFI, with the help of a couple key partners, was one of the only organizations offering flights in and out of Port-au-Prince for the thousands of non-governmental medical personnel and relief workers headed to Haiti to assist. From the outside looking in, it seemed as though we had our response all planned out ahead of time. We did not, but God did.

This book tells the story of how God brought together incredible resources to help meet the incredible needs. Also scattered throughout this book are short stories from some of the missions that MFI serves . . . stories of lives saved, loved ones found, families reunited … stories that will boost your faith.

My prayer is that this book will help the reader to focus on what God was doing in spite of the tragic circumstances. The ground does sometimes shake . . . but our faith can stand firm.
